I am an entrepreneur.

Some might say a “serial” entrepreneur.

Currently I own four offline and four online businesses.  I am the executive director of a world mission organization. And lead a teaching and worship ministry at church.

At one time Steven, my 14 year old, and me listed the # of “jobs” I have. We stopped at 14.

You’d think I'd be pressed for time.

But I'm not. Not even close.

I never miss any of my two boys' school or sporting events. I run errands in the middle of the day for Baby Girl (my wife). I never feel overwhelmed or pressured by the clock.

Rarely do I have that “too busy” rush that most of society seems crushed by.

In fact, my friends say I get more done than anyone they know and yet they are convinced I don't work or have a job. There's no doubt that I get more done by 6 am on Monday morning than most accomplish in a day. And more than some folks get done in an entire week.

And it’s because of something super simple.

At this point you'd expect be to go the general marketing route and tell you that I am able to control my time so well because I make a wicked amount of money. That money equals freedom. That the more coin you make the more time you'll have.

Well that's simply not true.

You see, a person who can't control time NOW will probably never get wealthy. It's no different from the person who can't manage their money and then they win the lottery. A few years later they are broke again. Why? Because they couldn't handle a little money, so they certainly can't handle a lot of money.

Here's something you may not believe, in fact, you probably won't...

Becoming a human time machine is the most important "skill" you can ever gain.

What?

Yep. Because time is leverage. When you can do in one hour what takes other eight, you have huge leverage. When you are able to focus for thirty honest minutes, you can literally lap the field in your niche.

Almost everyone is wandering around the internet in a fog. In a daze. In a cess pool of mediocrity.

When you step out into clarity by controlling your time, you control your destiny.

Listen close. Money is not the issue. There is PLENTY of money to go around. Folks are always crying about not making enough money.

But money is plentiful. TIME IS SCARCE. (Did you get that?)

 

Master time (productivity) FIRST and money will be so much easier!

Money is an exchange of value. The more value the more money. The more products you sell the more money you make. The more products you have to sell the more money you make.

So how do you create more products, sell more stuff, build a larger list and still make the ball games, the cookouts and more?

You become a time machine.

While everyone else takes two hours to write an article and you write one in 20 minutes or 6 for every one of theirs, guess who makes more money?

If you create a product in two hours and it takes everyone else 10, you have five to their 1. Who makes more money?

You see the only thing that matters is RESULTS. What you get DONE.

And you get more done by... yeah, you're sick of hearing it... by taking charge of the clock. Compressing hours to minutes, days to hours and weeks to days. And it CAN be done!

You’re probably thinking…

“Yeah, well Paul, you’re probably one of those naturally focused and scheduled 'freak' types. You probably have all your pens and pencils aligned in order in your pocket protector.”

Not even close!

My DNA is scattered. In school I couldn’t sit still. Couldn’t stay focused. Was always watching the clock. Amazed and how fast time could go on a date and how time could creep in the classroom.

I was always losing assignments and forgetting others altogether. And on top of that I said yes to way too much. Over extended myself and never really finished anything. O… I started in a flurry and faded fast.

There’s no doubt that I disappointed a lot of people along the way.

Well, I didn’t learn my lesson and brought the same identity into business. When I first got started online I bought everything on the planet.

Every guru voodoo package.

Every money miracle.

Every “wish upon a star” product.

Which led to information overload, distraction, frustration, procrastination and a mounting stack of starts and stops.

Then frustration moved to anger and anger into action.

One thing I knew for sure. What I was doing wasn’t working. Change had to be made and I had to find the source of all my issues. I mean get to the root!

(It’s so easy to cover up the real problem. I could have blamed everyone else. But somehow I knew the real problem was something within me. And if I could correct it then things would change… massively.)

Turns out I have A.D.D. Hold on it’s not what you think.

While I might have the actually disorder (especially since baby sitters and barbers said “Never bring him back!”), it’s not Attention Deficit Disorder. I had…

Attention Discipline Disorder.

I had no focus. No plan.  No schedule. No structure.

In the "real world" people tell you what to do and when to do it.

In business YOU call the shots. No one tells you what and when. Even if you do get what (like a big package of stuff that comes with a product release), there’s no WHEN

-YOU have to control your TIME.
-YOU have to make the plan and stick with it.
-YOU have to create the schedule and structure.

And most do not have a clue… because they suffer from A.D.D. too!

Here is the truth:

There's just no way around it. If you don't learn to grab the clock by the throat, you're not going to become successful.

Once I crushed the clock everything in life began to gain momentum (including money). Everything began to accelerate toward profitable productivity. I got results. MASSIVE results.

Indecisiveness! What will happen when you make fast, accurate decisions and STICK with them!

Perfectionism! When you focus on results, you can forget about everything being just right. You can get your product online without worrying about what others think. You will be able alleviate self-doubt and move into the cash express lane.

P.S. Like millions of others, I woke this morning with a list of “promises.”

Oh sure, some call them resolutions.

To me they’re promises.

I think most of us are really great a keeping the promises we make other people. It’s just that most have a tough time keeping promises we make to ourselves. We think a self-promise isn’t as critical as an others promise.

Not true.

If 2010 is going to be different. Then we’ve got to get as far away from the crowd of quitters and liars as possible. Separate yourself from the pack. And make sure you keep training yourself to keep your word to YOURSELF.

Listen, there are just a few of us. Which is great news. Failure is like the prison system… overcrowded. Success is wide open for business. Just step in.

What really makes me happy is being able to make more promises and keep more of them.
